I am a qualified primary school teacher and I have been teaching all subjects across the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 curricula, in maintained schools. I have worked with a range of students from ages 3 to 13. I am currently working in an alternative provision setting, as well as tutoring for Hyde Tutoring. In the alternative provision setting I am providing individualised tuition for children who are unable to attend mainstream schooling. I also have tutoring experience of preparing children for the 7+ to 11+, SATS exams as well as on-going curriculum support.
I am proud of my ability to engage children with learning and aim to make lessons active and encouraging. When tutoring, it is crucial to establish a strong and positive working relationship and to celebrate each step of progress a child makes. I have experience with children with a variety of educational needs: I am experienced at stretching the attainment of higher ability children and also at securing the progress of children struggling academically. I adapt each of my tutoring sessions according to the needs of each student, slowly building their confidence through scaffolding, encouragement, challenges and ultimately fostering independence so they can be their best.
