I am an ex-headmistress and a seasoned school teacher, with over 40 years of teaching experience. I have taught a range of levels from Reception through to Key Stage 4. The subjects I have taught are numerous, however, I have specialised in the teaching of English, maths, geography and Remedial Education.
During the course of my career I progressed from a level one teacher to head of the English department, head of Special Needs, head of department in the middle school phase then deputy-headmistress. Thereafter, I was headmistress. Since retiring I have taught English and Mathematics for Hyde Tutoring and English at Roedean School (South Africa) during the start of the pandemic.
During my time as a headteacher I have been instrumental in creating and writing school policy for the Education Department on reading and language across the curriculum and whole school planning, as well as, presenting sessions on Best Practice in Leadership to school principals.
I enjoy my work and strive to understand the nuances of every child’s personality and learning style. My philosophy is that children need to be happy so that they all learn, but not necessarily, in the same way on the same day.
