I currently teach German at the London School of Economics and I taught previously at the University of Sheffield. I am an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

When taking my A Levels in 2015 it was only when I had tutoring myself that I discovered my love for German, which happened when I realised that developing real fluency in German was genuinely achievable. After growing in confidence with the help of my tutor, I decided that I wanted to study German at university.

I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2020 with Class One Honours in Germanic Studies with Distinction in Spoken German. I received the German Embassy Book Prize for my examination results, as well as the Kemsley German Prize for best proficiency in the spoken language. I also received the Luxembourg Embassy Prize for my achievement in Luxembourgish Studies.

I trained as a German and French teacher at the University of Sussex and received my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) as well as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in June 2021. I achieved a Distinction (81%) in my PGCE with my research focussing on fostering spontaneous speaking in GCSE German lessons. During my training I taught KS3 and KS4 German, as well as KS3 French at a secondary school in West Sussex from October 2020 to May 2021.

Between October 2018 and May 2019, I lived and worked in a small town in Germany called Hilchenbach, where I taught English at the Gymnasium Stift Keppel with the British Council. Hilchenbach is in the middle of the Rothaarsteig mountain range, and my friends there travel around in a rickety old Volkswagen that they call the ‘Angstwagen’ (literally, a ‘worry car’) because they’re always afraid it’s going to break down! My favourite German city is Dresden, where I am on my profile picture. It’s incredible how they’ve rebuilt the city exactly as it was before the bombing at the end of the Second World War.

My lessons are tailored to the skills that you most wish to develop in German, are well thought-out and highly engaging. I am particularly experienced in developing students’ confidence in speaking, which was the focus of my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). I also love teaching German grammar!
