Hello! My name is Bijal and I am a tutor based in South West London. I have an undergraduate BA Hons in Drama (Applied) from Queen Mary University of London. I also have a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, Lifelong Learning Sector from the University of Greenwich.
I have over 8 years of dedicated experience in the primary sector. I am a caring, and passionate about offering children and young people the space and means to develop their own motivation, direction and assist with academic progression. I have with an excellent track record of supporting and encouraging young people to achieve their true potential. I have worked with children who had a variety of learning needs and I have teaching and mentoring experience with typical and a-typical development, young people and adults with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Special Educational Needs (SEN). I love incorporating educational games into my sessions to make them as fun and engaging as possible!
As well as tutoring, I work in a primary school covering classes across a range of subjects, mainly for years 4, 5 and 6. I also run Maths interventions across years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for children with SEN and children who need some extra support in specific areas of their Maths curriculum. I have also provided general in class support, as well as 1:1 support to children with Autism.
As a tutor, I focus mainly on teaching English and Maths to primary school age children 7-11 for general support as well as SATS and entrance exam preparation. I have tutored children in preparation for 7+ 8+ and 11 + entrance exams.
Alongside tutoring and working in the primary sector, I have a passion for drama and I run an after school drama club for years 4, 5 and 6 allowing children to build confidence and promote positive self-esteem, through drama games, improvisation and expressive exercises, touching on different aspects of drama such as acting skills, role-playing, movement and song.
