Grace Gamble

My main job is as an English teacher at a leading HMC school in Oxfordshire. I also have a pastoral role as a resident house parent, I teach drama and run the school’s Cadet Force. I mention these things as I want to emphasise my interest in the holistic development of young people.  I like to work with the interests of students as I build up a strong tutoring relationship.

Before taking on my present position in 2021, I was a headteacher at various British and American schools around the world. I am familiar, therefore, with British and American systems of education and with application to US universities.  I have an international outlook and have a good command of French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.  I also ran a school in the UK for a number of years.  I think my role as a headteacher has put me in a great position to advise parents on the best schools and universities for their child and how to go about the application process. I also have experience of supporting children with interview preparation.

As a teacher, I have worked at maintained and HMC Schools in the independent sector in the UK. My experience as an English teacher has included being an examiner and preparing candidates for entry to the most competitive schools and universities in the UK and USA. My aim is to develop children’s confidence and enjoyment in using and analysing language and literature.  I know that pressure is on them; I believe they will cope better if they enjoy what they do!
