I have been teaching English for ten years and have worked in a variety of schools, including private schools, faith schools and inner-city comprehensives. As a result of this, I have no expectations of what a pupil has been taught, but I always have high expectations as to what they can achieve. I believe my experiences in a variety of educational establishments have helped me to learn how one resource can have multiple different meanings according to the person who is looking at it. As such, when teaching, I support pupils to think creatively as to how one text may fit into many areas or how one subject matter can be discussed in a variety of mediums. My teaching style is flexible, as I continually adapt my lessons and teaching practise to best fit who I am working with
I have also worked within tuition centres, alongside being a GCSE marker for an exam board. This has helped me become confident in how to relay the best exam techniques for GCSE English.
I can teach English from Year 5 up to GCSE. I am available to tutor online, as well as in person.
