I teach from KS1 to A Levels. l I teach all subjects at KS1 and LKS2,. At secondary level I teach just English, including for GCSE and A Level exams.
Every year I prepare numerous students for competitive school exams, from 7+to university entrance. I know the school requirements very well and I can therefore offer parents guidance about the best schools for their child. Schools I have prepared students for include, but are not limited to: Westminster, SPGS, St Paul’s School and Latymer.
Outside of tutoring I also work as a writer, As someone who loves reading and creative writing, I personally believe that all students have the capacity to engage in storytelling. It means a lot to me to see young people who initially felt disillusioned with studying English begin to appreciate it in some way or form, and use their personal responses to express ideas and perspectives that matter to them. I take a flexible approach to lessons, balanced with pre-planning and focus; I’ve found this combination works best in encouraging students to be spontaneous and creative while also ensuring our targets are met.
Tutoring is more than just teaching a subject: you get to know the student on a personal level and you therefore become heavily invested in their successes and their wellbeing. Drawing in part upon extensive safeguarding training received when working as a Mental Health Outreach Worker, I try my best to understand each student as an individual, tailoring my teaching to them specifically and also reflecting on how I could help them manage any anxieties they may have about upcoming exams/the learning process. I’m committed to positively influencing my students’ lives in whatever ways that I can, both academically and personally.
